Easy to set up, perfect for dog
I got this gate because my dog and the dog we’re currently fostering haven’t been getting along, and I needed a way to separate them at times without totally shutting one in another room or crating them. This is perfect. I was worried that it’d be too hard to set up, because I vaguely remember never being able to figure these out when I babysat. But it only took a few minutes. I agree with other people that it’d be a good idea to mark the correct notch (my door was 30 inches). Careful not to force the wood lever thing or it’ll snap (this didn’t happen to me, I could just see how it could happen). This was up in a few minutes and was very sturdy.The dogs are both labs, so I was afraid they’d simply jump over it, but they didn’t! I just put one in the other room (with a clear sight-line to us), calmly locked the gate into place, said “stay here,” and walked away. The foster dog didn’t move at all.I will say that if you plan to have to cross this a lot, then I’d probably spring for the bolt-in ones that are a bit more permanent. This one would get annoying to step over all the time and/or to dismantle a lot. But if you’re looking to use it sporadically or in an out-of-the-way room, I recommend this one! And you can’t beat the price.

People, they’re the worst…these gates, they’re the best.
This gate requires common sense, not instructions. There is no sense in down-grading their rating for this reason. Why does toothpaste have instructions? People like you, who lack common sense and basic problem-solving skills.The height is better than the taller Evenflo model, because even at 5’4″ it is still possible to step over the gate, even while holding a laundry basket. We’ve had this gate set up on the stairs (prior to setting up a permanent gate) and it is possible to step over the gate and down one step without issue.Bear in mind that the bottom corners must be placed above floor molding so that all four rubber nubs have equal pressure against the wall. Even with the added height, it is easy to step over. This is not the type of gate you want to unlock and replace every time you want to go by.We have permanently mounted gates in addition to these pressure gates since each gate has its own benefits. Permanently mounted gates are just that, you never intend to move them, just pass through. If you go this route, be prepared to use the screws they provide since they are not strong enough to hold back toddlers without the extra reinforcement.These pressure gates are for blocking off an open slider (the nubs fit into the slider so it is impossible to dislodge) or the kids’ bedroom during play time. We also use them on the front door when we are looking for a cool breeze.After a few weeks you will notice that the metal leaves marks in the commonly used settings, so it is quicker to install over time.

Inexpensive & easy to use
The Good: 1) Gate is mostly intuitive to use with easy instructions on the side of the box it came in. 2) Strong enough that my 8 month old baby can put his weight on it while he is pulling himself up. 3) The most inexpensive Amazon Prime eligible gate available at the date of purchase ($17.00).The Bad: 1) Adjustable width of gate is made in 1 inch intervals, while some doorways (one of ours) is 36.5 inches & we have to set the setting to 37 inches to keep it tight against the walls, but this makes the wood keeping the gate together bow/bend with the worry it might break given the right pressure. 2) No “door” for adults to open & close to walk-through, so you must awkwardly lift your leg over the gate to get through.The Bottom Line: This gate is dead simple, easy to use, inexpensive and effective. However, it is an entry level gate with no bells and whistles. This is perfect for the cost conscious parent that simply needs to block entry to certain rooms for their baby/toddler (like us).

The price was right and I used a similar one at an Airbnb with good success.It is easy to set up and I’m able to use it for both doorways AND to block off a section of my home I don’t want the toddler roaming into.It is stable, portable, and easy to move where I need it to.Alternatively, now my toddler has a new fun activity of throwing his toys over the gate.

NOT SANDED DOWN. Huge risk of splinters. Hard to use because of how cheaply made it is.
If I could give zero stars, I would. Very, VERY cheaply made. I feel like even for $25 you could at least still sand down the wood. I don’t have kids (using this for pets) but if a small child were to grab onto this gate, there’s no way they wouldn’t get a splinter or SEVERAL splinters. It’s hard to move and adjust because of how cheap the wood feels. The latch just really fights with the wood in order to move it to a different slot because the wood is not sanded down or polished. I have another gate just like this one that’s several years old, but sanded down and polished, so it’s a lot easier to use than this hunk of junk. Overall, I’m really unhappy with this product but I needed a gate and cannot return.

Cheap- mostly ok
I bought 3 of these- 1 completely fell apart (pins bent/frame warped) when trying to mount- it also was off on the measurements as it did not fit where the other 2 gates did- the mounting squares for the cups are terrible. And the plastic mounting cups crack and break if you try to use screws since the mounting tape won’t work. (I’m using for cats but wouldn’t trust for a child, even with brackets). Also think it’s awful that the mounting bracket bag is jammed in between the frame and the net so you risk destroying the product to get the mounting materials.

Keeps the dogs out!
Don’t have kids, but I needed my cats to be able to access their litter boxes in a seperate room without the dogs having access. Figured it would be worth a try until I can install a cat door, and it definitely worked out for us! My 75lb dogs are terrified of the thing, which is weird but works out great in this scenario! Don’t have to worry about them getting into the litter anymore! I also like that this is adjustable and easy to take off the door when I need to move it somewhere else quickly.

This is our third baby gate we have purchased. One for each entryway to prevent our toddler from entering certain spaces. It works great and stays firmly in place. It’s a classic baby gate at a good price. It is a bit hard to click and unclick back into place but we leave ours up and don’t ever move it. We just climb over it every time. I wouldn’t recommend if you were going to be moving the gate multiple times a day as it is difficult to maneuver back in.
