Perfect for my kitchen
I bought this item and the matching microwave cart and they inexpensively and fabulously revitalized my kitchen. Like other reviewers have said, this is extremely easy to to put together without help. I followed their tips and installed the wheels and two shelves before I added the upper poles, and discarded the rubber washers that are only used for shipping. It was well packed to prevent damage, and was even easy to unpack — just open one end flap and turn it upside down.This thing is amazingly well designed and I recommend it to anyone with a tight budget and a need for storage. The only reason it took me more than a few minutes to put it together was I had a hard time deciding how I wanted to arrange the shelves but even that was easy. I just put the plastic shelf holders on, slid them until they clicked into the line, counted lines to add the holders to the other shelves, then lightly slid the shelf into place without pressing down. I could put things on the shelves below and then just re-position the shelf holders if I wanted the one above higher or lower. I decided to leave a little floor space underneath, then have a tall bottom shelf for appliances, then two smaller shelves, then the biggest space at the top to hang pots and put lids on the shelf underneath them. It is now loaded with heavy things and it is sturdy and still easy to roll around. Love it.

Lightweight unit for storage needs
Decent price for lightweight shelf & worked for my pantry storage needs (storing bulky items like crockpot, mixers, etc.). It is sturdy enough for my kitchen items, however, this particular rack should not be used for very heavy items (not greater than a full-sized KitchenAid mixer’s weight). Overall, the black looks well, although this rack arrived with 2 damaged areas (box was not damaged at all, though).

This rack is flimsy as compared to other metro racks. They claim that this will hold 400 lbs per shelf. I am not sure how that is possible and I put about a dozen books on the shelf of average weight and it bends in the center pf the shelf. If I did not already put this together and secure it against the wall I would return it. DO NOT BUY if you are wanting to use for a bookshelf.

Poor packaging that almost guarantees damage on arrival, structural wire is thinner than competitor
Bought 2 of these and had to exchange one for a Seville Classics one. Both arrived damaged, but one as “acceptable” as there was only one bent shelf and it was a minor bend. The other had bends on all the shelves and 4 were severe enough where it likely will not assemble well. The packaging for this shelving is cardboard that isn’t thick enough to handle being shipped. Both boxes were ripped, and the worse one had big hole pushed through as well, that appeared to be the source of the damage. The Seville Classics shelf shipped in a thicker and sturdier cardboard box that had no rips nor punctures, and no damaged shelves.The wire on the perimeter and cross supports is 4mm, while Seville Classics was 5mm. The “runner” wire that goes the long way across the shelf is 3mm on both brands. That extra 1 mm on the Seville makes it noticeably sturdier. With just 20 lbs on the this Whitmor, it began to sag. I have close to 100 lb on one of my 2 Sevilles and it has not sagged.This Whitmor is also made in china, for folks who care where their products are made.The only pros for this Whitmor is that it is a little cheaper than the Seville, and it has 6 shelves which makes it a little taller than the Seville. So if you’re looking to maximize space usage, and have low weight capacity needs, this might be for you. Otherwise, spend a little bit more for the Seville Classics 30″ wide shelf.

Excellent product
This is the second Whitmor shelf assembly that I have ordered off Amazon. The first one is over five years old and is holding up very well. The new one I just purchased is of the same quality and is quite sturdy. Very easy to assemble.Quite pleased with product.
